Today we take our creation - Training Orbit - to the world. It is a great joy for all of us out here. Personally for me its been an awesome experience. For tan ki shakthi, man ki shakthi we had Divinvita. The Divine guided at every step. Surrendering to it and let myself drift with the course was a great experience.
Its been a long time and involvement of lot of people - directly and indirectly. The idea in different forms was taking shape for over two years. It went through a gruesome process of ups and downs before it has come in this shape. The idea was more of seeking answers to questions which people came up with regarding their careers - where am I heading, what do I need to do, what is that I need to develop and so on. Training Orbit has been part of the solutionising for these questions. Like most things what we see today was not what was imagined then.
Significant contribution came from a team which worked on the development of the web applications for Training Orbit. Since they have chosen to be background and would not want their identity to be revealed for certain business reasons I cannot take their name. But the people out there did a fabulous job. I always believed that any service provider of our kind is like riding a bicycle with its two wheels akin to "domain" and "technology". Both - domain and technology - work in tandem to take the services to the users. Domain comes up with ideas, technology finds ways to implement it. Technology comes up with newer possibilities encouraging domain to experiment newer ideas. This loop goes on - each feeding the other and taking the whole business forward. This is exactly how our technology team and we worked together. From scratch it was built byte by byte and at times we had to rework on what was already written. What I found in them were those strong supportive qualities: meticulousness, a systematic approach, solution orientation, time commitment, stringent adherence to quality and most importantly listening to our ideas and sharing their ideas. I must particularly acknowledge the communication skills of one of the account manager out there. I have not seen before a techie who wrote such clear, precise and neat English at his age. The entire team put more than their programming skills - their passion. They associated with this project at an emotional level working beyond the call of duty to create a world class application.
My Yoganishta colleagues have been patiently waiting all this time for me to give some productive outcome. Afterall it has been their effort and earnings which was funding this project. Kavitha and Karthik my two colleagues in Yoganishta played a role of cautiously encouraging me. Yes, at many times they had doubts on what was I doing but the fact is that in the heart of heart they wanted me to go ahead and do it. That is the reason they never put their foot down. My nature of taking, at times, risky decisions, were tempered by them. Believe me I listened to them and bowed down. The risks I took and which they are part of involuntarily, hopefully will pay off the two and all the Yoganishta colleagues will see rich rewards in the course of time.
Sriram, my good friend from Cochin, also my classmate in XLRI played a very active and important role in the last six months. He brought in his domain experience, experience from his consulting days to give shape to the ideas, particularly tDNA. We had heated and healthy discussions on several areas and we emerged better off. Apart from the contribution to the domain, Sriram actively supported me, knowing very well how painful it could be take up a cause all by oneself. I thank him for all this support.
My family has been a big strength. Each of them contributed in their own way - right from the eldest one to the youngest one. Mother would pray hard. I am not sure if there is any deity left to which she has not prayed for me. Father would go through his cycle of optimism and pessimism. Sometimes cautioning me and wanting me to abandon this project, sometimes asking me to just march ahead. Such confusion is understandable in any middle class family with a first generation entrepreneuer. They hold in awe the Narayan Murthys of the world who struggled initially, persevered and eventually became a success. But if a Narayan Murthy were emerging in their family, it can be a nightmare, what with all the insecurities hitting them. My one sister managed the emotions in the family working in the background and ensured I was not pestered beyond a point. My other sister learnt juggling with the excel sheets, web pages, doing ctrl C/ctrl V (which is what most professionals in corporate do - I did not tell her this secret). I drove her so hard that on many occassions she went to sleep on the key board itself. Her husband would constantly monitor the progress and also do his bit of looking at the stars and check with them where I was heading. My brother went on to do 2.5 shifts of work. 1 shift he will work for his company and the other 1.5 for me. Every day morning he will ask me if there was something that needed to be done. You know what, forget paying them for their efforts, they not only put the efforts at zero cost, they have also funded big money from all their manany many years of savings. This is the true Indian family - lots of love, lots of support, some fear, but 100% commitment.
My dear friend Prasad who is now moving to the land of the Kangaroos and Fosters, is another guy who played and continues to play a key role. Balancing between the various cross directional forces he places unconditional support on my efforts. We would take no major decision without consulting him. And now that guy has given me six months time starting today. Either this works or I should pack my bags to join him on the sands of Melbourne with Fosters in hand. Will I continue to be in K K Nagar or will land up there, time will tell.
I need to mention about two other classmates and friends of mine from XLRI who leant me money 11 months back at a crucial juncture when there was no Obama or any one else to bail me out. Without them I would have had to file for bankrutcy under Chapter 11, not that I know of one existing in India.
There are many more people who worked with me in the last two years in different roles, and in different ways. All their contributions are remembered, acknowledged and respected. I am sure all of them take pride in what we see today.
Every director thinks he has made a great movie. But the judgment is passed by the audience. We take this creation of ours - Training Orbit - to the world knowing very well that the judgment is out there and will be passed sooner than later. We are confident that the Divine will give us the strength to take the judgment in the right spirit. No matter what, we thank the Divine for the awesome experience we have had. Jai Ho Thalaivar!!!!
