Does mere MBA degree effective to choose career path?
Am an MBA in finance and marketing. But is this effective in just getting a MBA degree from state universities to set my career path. Also curious to know if MBA pass out from reputed B-Schools have more chances to get hired in corporate companies than others who get certificates from state universities.

MBAs matter, but only to some extent.
We all are aware that companies go to the highly ranked B schools, take students passing out from there paying very high salaries. They see value. The value come from different factors including: the stringent norms in selecting students for the course, the course curriculum, the methodology adopted for imparting learning, the quality of the faculty, the quality of interaction between students, the infrastructural support and so on. These do differentiate B schools in their ability to attract good companies to their campuses for placement.
On the other question of whether MBA itself is enough? No. A graduation in science does not make a good scientist, an engineering degree does not make a good engineer, a MBA does not make a good manager. Its the continuous learning which matters!!!
